Quote of the Week & Google Misc.

There's plenty of politics to be found in any office, I suspect most organizations experience cycles of more and less vicious politics from time to time.  Currently the organization I work for is going through one such cycle.  My favorite quote this week, following a heated discussion on who manages what projects. VP: "Andy, your job is to conduct the orchestra, make the cellos play with the violins and the flutes." Andy: "That's great, except I think Ben is holding a baseball bat not a cello."  I guess you had to be there, but I was glad I was on mute to conceal my snickering.

Onwards to something interesting... Google Stickers!  I somehow missed the bus on this in December and just today filled out my envelope to receive FREE GOOGLE STICKERS!  Hooray!  Yeah, we'll see if it was worth my 84 cents in postage or not.  A couple other notes:

1) bubble.us seems to be shut down, which I'm not happy about, I had some semi-important content up there. Lesson learned, don't trust just any free SaaS company with data you care about - Google and 37signals are a cut above most.

2) Google notebook apparently cut their staff, planning an ultimate shutdown entirely probably. I'm a bit sad about this as I use that to keep up some random notes that don't quite seem appropriate for a document.  Oh well, guess I'll shift those to Google docs eventually.  When is google going to seamlessly integrate google bookmarks into Chrome anyway?  Helloo??  I'm obviously missing something here or that would've already been done.

3) Latitude is pretty slick, I wonder what the rate of adoption will be given the tracking nature of this application.  Honestly, it's a little weird to me that they can figure out where my laptop is better than my phone, it seems IP tracking is even easier than I realized!
